FAQ ( Frequently Asked Questions) for allergy shot patients transitioning from our clinic to Allergy Associates of Western Michigan

  1. Can I continue to receive allergy shots at Allergy/Asthma Specialists during the transition time? YES.
    • Patients can continue their normal shot regimen in our clinic until the last clinic day, 8 July 2025. On July 9th, Dr Dubravec is planning to transport the extracts from our clinic refrigerator to Allergy Associates to ensure a smooth transition.
  2. Do I need an office visit with Allergy Associates before receiving my first allergy shot there? YES
    • Allergy Associates’ website www.allergywestmi.com has contact information to schedule an appointment with them, including a patient portal to contact their office. We are working together to ensure a smooth transition. Due to the number of patients contacting their office for a first appointment, please know that it may be 1-2 business day before hearing back from their office at this time.
  3. Will I need to be reskin-tested to continue my allergy shots with Allergy Associates? NO.
    • They will accept skin testing already done in our clinic. (There could be very rare exceptions that would be no different than our clinic and would be clarified with each patient.)
  4. I am building up on my current allergy shot regimen or am on maintenance dose. Will I have to restart my allergy shot buildup from the beginning? NO.
    • Allergy Associates will use up your remaining extracts from our clinic, then use their mix at slightly decreased concentration, using a safe conversion protocol allowing for monthly buildup steps back to your new maintenance dose, or more frequent dosing to get up to your new maintenance dose sooner if you desire.
  5. Where is Allergy Associates’ clinic located and what are their shot hours?
    • They have an office just down East Beltline near Meijers but across the Beltline. They also have an office in Grandville that may be more convenient for patients. Please check their website www.allergywestmi.com for additional information.
  6. Does Allergy Associates take my insurance?
    • They participate with most insurances so most likely YES to the same ones we participate with. There may be rare exceptions. This will be confirmed when you contact their office to set up your first appointment with Allergy Associates.
